Inspector Window: Fill Tab

In the Inspector Window below, the “Fill” tab is selected. The Fill options control how the interior of an object is drawn. The presented features only apply to Rectangle, Oval, and Shape objects.

The Color button shows the current fill color of the selected object. Select the Color checkbox then mouse click on the Color button to display the Color panel. When you select a color in the Color panel, the selected object is filled with that color. The color within the Color button changes to reflect the fill color of the object.

The remaining features apply to creating a fill “pattern” within the selected object. To activate this feature you must drag a pattern, or small image you want replicated as a pattern, into the well labeled “Drag Pattern Image Here”. Refer to Using Clip Art and Templates for more detail on iRemember provided patterns. Also refer to Embedding Images and Patterns into Objects.

In the example above a heart has been dropped into the pattern well. This is reflected in the selected Rectangle object.

The Horizontal and Vertical values establish the respective separation between the pattern copies. The Scale value increases and decreases the scale of the pattern. The Rotate control sets the angle. In the case above, the angle is 347 degrees. You can see the results of the above Inspector Window settings within the selected object as changes are made.

The Opacity determines to what degree it obscures or reveals the layer beneath it. A layer with a 1% opacity appears nearly transparent, while one with 100% opacity appears completely opaque. In the above example, the top/left picture shows the opacity for both the pattern and the fill color at 100%. The top/right picture shows the opacity level for the pattern at 61% and the fill color at 72%. The opacity level “softens” the appearance of clipart. This is a great way to make your pattern backgrounds not so bold and allows your photos to be your main attraction on the page.

The heart pattern on the top/right has been rotated to 347%.
