Tools Palette: Arrow

The Arrow tool is used to select, move and resize objects.

A mouse click selects any object. A mouse click and drag on selected object(s) allows you to move those object(s). A mouse click and drag on a selected object's resize points allows the object to be resized.

The below image shows an Oval object that has been selected. Note the 8 resize points. A mouse click and drag with the Arrow tool on any of these 8 points can be used to resize the object.

To take advantage of the grid capabilities to precisely align objects, here is a summary of grid commands:

• Use the Snap to Grid command to turn on and off the snap to grid feature.

• Use the Align to Grid command to align the object to the grid.

• Use the Grid Settings… command to change the grid spacing and color.

• Use the Show/Hide Grid command to show and hide the grid.

Special Notes:

• When using the Arrow tool, holding down the “Shift” key while mouse clicking on objects, allows any combination of objects of any type, to be selected.

• When using the Arrow tool, a mouse click and drag selects all objects of any type, within the drag selection area (region).

• When using the Arrow tool to move an object, holding down the “Command” key toggles the current state of the Snap to Grid setting.

• When using the Arrow tool, holding down the “Option” key turns it into the Grabber tool as long as the “Option” key is held down.

• When using the Arrow tool to resize an object using its corner resize points, holding down the “Shift” key wil restrict the resized object to one having the same aspect ration (that is, the ratio of its width to height) as before.
